ARTICLE II: MED-NET BODIES
II.D: THE ADVISORY BOARD

Section 1. Composition 

  1. The Advisory Board shall consist of independent experts with known expertise and international merit in Medical Education. 
  2. The Members of the Advisory Board shall come from five European regions, i.e. North, South, East, West and Central Europe. 

Section 2. Duties

The Advisory Board is an independent committee for advice, support, and evaluation of the policy, the progress and the quality of MED-NET. Its duties and responsibilities are:

  1. To act as a think-tank without executive power
  2. To monitor on the progress and the quality of MED-NET, i.e.:
  1. professionally: outcome of the projects (i.e. ref. groups)
  2. organisationally: management quality and transparency
  3. strategically: development of the role of MED-NET in relation to universities and associations in the European context
  1. To advise on the general policy and strategy of MED-NET if requested. In general such requests shall concern:
  1. The annual activity plans, budgets and expenditures
  2. New projects and installation/assignment of Thematic Reference Groups
  3. Strategic alliances and corporations with other associations
  1. To make the CMB and the Task Force of MED-NET aware of new developments and opportunities

Section 3. Procedures

  1. The members of MED-NET are entitled to suggest candidates for the Advisory Board to the chairman.
  2. Upon proposals by the Members' Assembly, or by the Task Force, the Central MED-NET Board appoints the chairperson of the Advisory Board. The chairperson is entitled to invite individuals to take a position in the Advisory Board.
  3. The Advisory Board proposes each year a change of one to two members. The chairperson of the Advisory Board announces resigning and new members to the Central MED-NET Board. 
  4. The Board members shall be appointed for a period of three years with a possible extension of one year in order to avoid major changes in the composition at any time.
  5. The Advisory Board meets at least once per year
  6. The Advisory Board communicates directly with the Chairperson of the CMB

The Advisory Board produces an annual report concerning the progress and quality of the management of the network, the functioning of the Task Force and the Reference Groups, and on the professional quality and relevance of activity plans and achievements.
