Postgraduate education in Europe: a working experience trough leosanita’

F.I. Wolf (Rome Italy)

The Leonardo da Vinci program has been utilised to organise placements of three months in different University Hospitals for graduate students of the health care area. This project has given the opportunity to young graduates entering the professional life to:

  • compare different working strategies
  • learn how health care is managed in different European countries
  • experience a different social setting
  • learn an European language
  • see what are the post-graduate training opportunities in Europe
  • give an "European dimension"

Within about one year 53 placements have been organised. Each partner was sending and receiving participants. The sending institution was the University, the receiving one the corresponding Hospital.

The evaluation of the overall experience resulted to be very satisfactory. Post-graduate mobility should be implemented in order to encourage the exchange of professionals and to formulate international standards of professionalisation.
